Gaps have been left in this program so that Timber Training Creswick can respond to industry demand for courses on site.

Occupational Health and Safety for Forest Workers:  Feb 18, April 8, Jun 17, Aug 19, Sept. 30, Nov. 11.

Environmental Care for Forest Operations:  Feb 19, April 9, Jun 18, Aug 20, Oct 1 Nov. 12.

Chainsaw Trim and Cut/ Maintenance:  Feb 20-22, April 10-12 Jun 19-21, Aug 21-23 Oct 2-4 , November 13-15.

Harvest Trees Manually (Falling) – Basic:  May 13-17, July 1-5, August 26-30, November 18-22.

Forest and Farm Chemical Handlers Course:  Feb 14-15, May 2-3, June 13-14, Sept 19-20, Nov 28-29.

Small Scale (Portable) Sawmilling:  April 8-12, .August 26- 30.

Visual Stress Grade Softwood:  March 4-5, June 11-12, October 21-22

Visual Stress Grade Hardwood:  March 6-7, June 13-14, October 23-24.

Grade Recycled Timber:  March 8, October 25

Appearance Grade Hardwood:  October 28.

Timber Drying:  May 13-16, August 19-22.

  1. Trade Principles and Sharpening Knives and Hand Tools: January 21-25. 
  2. Brazing, Tipping and Sharpening Tipped Blades and Hand Tools: May 6-10. 
  3. Saw Shop Safety and Team Work: October 7-11
  4. Band and Circular Saw Maintenance 1: Feb 25-1 March
  5. Band and Circular Saw Maintenance and Wood Technology: June 17-21
  6. Band and Circular Saw Maintenance 2:    November 25-29
  7. Sawmill Maintenance and Drawing:   March 18-22
  8. Sawmill Maintenance and Troubleshooting, Sept. 16-20

Wood Machinist Blocks:  These blocks are available to both existing workers and Wood Machinist Apprentices

Block 1 is a pre-requisite of blocks 3, 4&5:

  1. Moulder Setup and Production Principles: February 18-March 1,  November 11-22.
  2. OHS, Communication and Teamwork: July 15-26.
  3. Tool and Cutter Manufacture: May 6-17; September 2-13.   
  4. Profile Production Principles: April 1-12; September 30-October 11.
  5. Timber Grading – Monitor and Improve PPM Processes: June 11-21,  October 21-November 1,
