SAWING

The Timber Training Creswick sawmill can be hired for carrying out research projects to determine process requirements, log yields and grade outputs. Please contact the office to discuss.

DRYING

The Training Centre kilns and staff can be hired to carry out research projects or trouble shooting in the timber drying area. In the past these projects have investigated drying degrade mechanisms and developed drying schedules for specific species or customer processing equipment.

The training centre has three kilns:

• 0.2 m³ experimental laboratory kiln
• 10 m³ commercial kiln capable of operating at 110° Celsius
• 20 m³ solar assisted pre-drying kiln

MACHINING

The training centre machining facilities and staff can be hired to carry out wood machining research.

Projects completed in the past have included:

• Design and development of profiles
• Investigation in to different types of tool steel
• Comparisons between different cutting angles and feed speeds
