This course introduces participants to the safe operation of the Line Bar / Sizing Carriage and log breakdown techniques which produce cants, slabs and flitches to optimise recovery on the resaw bench. A heavy emphasis is placed on log assessment, cutting patterns, cutting strategies and measures which may be adopted to counter the effects of distortion. Techniques associated with handling defects and defective logs are also included. 2 - 4 participants. Class based with an extensive practical component using the training sawmill facility.
Job Outcomes: Learners successfully completing this program may find employment as break down saw operators.
Will be by demonstration of skills and answering related questions. Upon successful completion students will be issued with a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit(s) above.
