    This course covers theory and practice in machine shutdown and isolation. 8-15 participants. Class based with practical site assessment. Job Outcomes: This course may assist learners to find employment as plant and machinery operators in forest industries.
  • Will be by class participation, demonstration of skills and short answer questionnaire.  Upon successful completion students will be issued with a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit(s) above.

    1. Introduction
    2. Determining the need for machinery shutdown/isolation
    3. Locating and interpreting workplace procedures for shutdown/isolation
    4. Safe work practices, procedures and precautions for shutting down and isolation of machinery
    5. Identifying possible sources of stored energy in machinery/equipment
    6. Procedures for de-energising/purging stored energy
    7. Reasons, equipment and procedures for installing lock off devices and/or signage
    8. Ensuring machinery is left in a clean, safe state before removing lock off devices/ signage
    9. Removing of lock off devices and reporting completion of work
    10. Use and application of relevant PPE.
    11. Reviewing workplace procedures for shutdown/isolation
