This course is particularly relevant to new kiln operators and/or sawmillers who intend to commence drying for the first time and have little or no prior knowledge. Through a combination of group discussion and practical exercises at the Training Centre's drying laboratory, participants will gain an understanding of the principles underpinning timber drying and the various drying processes. 8-12 participants. Class based with practical softwood drying using Creswick or site kilns.
Job Outcomes: Successful completion of this course may enable participants to find employment as softwood kiln operators.
Will be by demonstration of skills and answering related questions. Upon successful completion students will be issued with a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit(s) above.
